James Webster, a prominent member of the Haumanu Collective, a group dedicated in preserving and promoting M\u0101ori culture, delivered to the school a large collection of Taonga P\u016boro, traditional M\u0101ori musical instruments. The students sat in awe as James explained the cultural significance of each instrument. The taonga will be used to aide the school&#8217;s efforts in educating their students about traditional M\u0101ori customs and practices. There has been a revival of this craft over the last 30-40 years, led by the late Hirini Melbourne, Richard Nunns, Brian Flintoff and Ringinui Keefe, Joe Malcolm, Clem Mellish, Rangiiria Hedley, Aroha Yates Smith, and Hinewirangi Kohu Morgan, Ross and Bruce Gregory, Te Miringa Hohaia and others.  Haumanu has grown from these initiatives.
