That hasn\u2019t changed. What this programme offers is a way for that knowledge to sit within a formal learning environment &#8211; while still grounded in te reo, tikanga, and m\u0101tauranga M\u0101ori.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5d56172 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"5d56172\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title 0);\">Importantly, it does this within a kaupapa M\u0101ori framework, held by an institution that has long supported accessible, community-based Due to historical events there was a decline in the use and cultural practice of the instrumental traditions within M\u0101ori culture and with the knowledge base connected to it.  There has been a revival of this craft over the last 30-40 years, led by the late Hirini Melbourne, Richard Nunns, Brian Flintoff and Ringinui Keefe, Joe Malcolm, Clem Mellish, Rangiiria Hedley, Aroha Yates Smith, and Hinewirangi Kohu Morgan, Ross and Bruce Gregory, Te Miringa Hohaia and others.  Haumanu has grown from these initiatives.
